Kr3w Denim

So im sure im prolly the only one thats actually hyped on this, but Kr3w has expanded into the snowboarding front and is taking over the apparel and outerwear market by storm. Granted they pretty much sniped the Comune apparel team, and quite possibly the L1 outerwear team, but i think that Kr3w now has possibly one of the best snowboard teams (tight pants teams) to date. So whether or not you rock tight pants or your the biggest "sisters pants" hater, you should def take a look at this team and their products, cause they are def making power moves and are sure to be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Top Rail Parts

So i was thinking about my favorite snowboard parts the other night, and they basically came down to the most technical rail parts. Now there are a TONS of great parts from TONS of great riders, but I think when its all said and done, these are the two videos that i think take the cake for favorite rail parts..in my opinion..enjoy!!

Joe Sexton in Stepchild's "Child Support"
and...

Jed Anderson in Transworld's "Get Real"

Go pick up a copy of these vids at your nearest skate/snow shop..focus..

Thirty Two 09/10 Team

I found this on the Ashbury Blog (you should def peep it if can, theres always some good shit on there), and I must say for some reason or another this put lead in the pencil. I'm def a fan and supporter of 32, but for some reason this made me proud to be a snowboarder and bummed that i cant snowboard this second all at the same time:

You can direct all your hateful comments below haha

BIg Weekend

So, as the title suggests, this weekend should be pretty big, or at the least pretty eventful. So first as most ppl know, Tyrol Basin is open and will be open this Friday from 4pm-9pm, Saturday from 9am-9pm, and Sunday from 9am-5pm, for the $10 hiking fee. Also this weekend Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, WI, about two hours north of Madison, opens there doors this Satuday, and will also be the host to the Bald E-Gal Qualifier the following weekend (December 12th). And finally, Devils Head Resort in Merrimac, WI, is hosting the Rome Snowboards Premature Jibulation contest, a free contest that goes around the country giving back to local shredders and supporting the local scene.

Wisconsin Shred Project

"Wisconsin Shred Project is everything that is Snowboarding and Skateboarding. Coaching/ Film/Photo. Help your kids reach their level in Snow and Skate Industry - Wisco Word." This is the mission statement of the Wisconsin Shred Project, and quite frankly we at the Mafia couldn't have said it better. This whole blog is a shout out to Madison, but more importantly Wisconsin, so what better crew, video, or photo to advertise here then the Wisco Shred Project. To be honest I dont know all that much about them, except there down to earth hardcore shredders who wanna give back and support the scene. Heres a little quick edit from opening day at Tyrol, November 28th, 2009. Shout out to Martola. Enjoy.

Picnic Tables w/Dylan Thompson & Friends

Here's a lil edit I grabbed off the technine blog featuring Dylan Thompson and homies shreddin some picnic tables. I must say this stokes me up and makes it that much harder to wait for snow, so enjoy at your own risk.

Bear Mt.

So i'm assumin that everyone knows about Bear Mountain, but for those who dont, lemme get you up to speed. Big Bear Mountain is located in Big Bear Lake, Ca and is home to some of the most epic (in my opinion) terrain parks and hardest riding locals ive ever seen. Most notably, Chris Bradshaw is almost seen as the face of the Bear Mt. snowboard team, and under him are many budding shredders, including Zak Hale, and the Mazzotti brothers Anthony and Lenny. I'm a big fan of Bear, so I'm going to start posting some Bear edits during droughts of footage to keep you kids entertained,so here it is, Bear Parkisode 1.

We gotta alot of stuff on the MTM plate...

So this past wednesday and thursday, the homies came by to shred mattys place. Wednesday was a good night, with fast "snow" and good people, which kept the sesh going until all hours of the night. Thursday night however, was a different story, as the "snow" was slow, and was coincidentally the night we decided to make an edit. So, without further a due, here's our edit of our hi jinx that evening:

backyard snowboarding from Caleb Murray on Vimeo.

Filmed by Caleb, Nate, and Matt_Edited by Caleb

Also, I will once again remind all you turds and turdettes that the Terrace Rail Jam is tomorrow, Thursday, November 19th at 5pm on the Terrace, be there bitches. For those of you who cannot make it to the rail jam but have that craving to shred the "pow pow", Tyrol Basin is scheduled to open November 27th for pre-season, so dust of your board and break out the outerwear, cause the season is coming...

Camera Camera Camera...

So this is a bit on the late side, but MTMs own Caleb Murray has purchased a Canon GL2 for the low low, and hence for will be contributing edits along with Colin Droster. This opens ups doors in terms of alternate angles, alternate lense choices, and quite frankly alternate videos. Talk of a "whomper" video hitting Madison this spring/summer are surfacing, and all i can say is right on. Basically the jist is that there will be more edits and videos up here, so uhh, go you guys!!

Pure Cocaine Mt.

So this past weekend we had another sesh at Pure Cocaine Mountain, formerly known as Mount Droster, also known as Colin Drosters land. We warmed up on the box like usual on his butter box, then he brought out his newest creation, a 15ft circle rail. Needless to say it was an epic session, were everyone got there fair share of new tricks and shots to the body. An edit and pictures should be up soon, were just waiting on the master in command in our "videography/photogaphy department" Colin Droster to find some time to make this happen. Stay tuned for more visual shreddage stimuli in the days to come.

So I just wanna remind everyone to go to this shindig next friday, cause its shaping up to be an epic rail jam, and everyone should be there!! Also, the deadline for turning in your riding applications is Sunday, November 15th, so I encourage to take sometime between your binge drinking and other shenanigans this weekend to fill that bad boy out and submit it, because the more people there the better. If you have any other questions, see the post below

Terrace Rail Jam

So theres not much to report on the snowboard front these days, but while anxiousness and annoyance were in full effect, the guys who run the Campus Rail Jam Tour decided to hit up Madison and help throw a rail jam at the Terrace. This sure to be throw down will take place Thursday, November 19th, from 5pm to 8pm, at the Terrace behind Memorial Union. Now as you will see by the picture below, the course, for lack of a better term, looks epic, something Bear would put out for a jam. The only qualm I have with rail jam would be that not only is it 25 bones to throw down, but you also need to be at least 18 years of age and submit an application which can be found here:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dEhURDc3VURFc2FjUW40RE1VeE9sNkE6MA

It does suck that you have to submit contests that you have entered, sponsors, and you even have to submit photos and/or video to be able to be considered for admittance. Now I think ill meet these requirements, but thats not the point, I seriously believe, that everyone should be able to ride, regardless of age or skill level, but who am I to say. Well regardless of who rides, the whole MTM family will be out there either rippin these kids new ones or cheerin homies on while grillin out and sippin on some Dr. Feel Good. So like I said in another post, come out and ride, and if not come to support your homies, if ya dont know anyone, come kick it with us and get wild, if this still doesnt sell ya your hopeless haha

Strength in Numbers_S.I.N.

So for those of you who dont know, one of the MTM O.G.'s Caleb Murray, has started a new clothing line called Strength in Numbers, which is made from the finest Alpaca wool from Peru. He will be making everything from sweatshirts and sweaters, all of which will be available in tall sizes, to socks and hats. I myself am super hyped, and will be using connections with sceen printers to make both official Mad Town Mafia and S.I.N. tall tees. Strength in Numbers will also be accommodating others by offering clothing in both womens and kids lines, which alike the mens line, will be available in both tall and regular sizes. The specifications have been sent to his uncle in Peru, and within the next few weeks the demos should back in the states. Words can't explain how excited I am for this line to start churning out clothes, not only am i personally involved in some of the stuff comin out, but the amount of preparation and determination that Caleb is puttin into this company seriously hypes me up, S.I.N. is guaranteed to be making power moves on nearby hills this year, and within the next few will be a necessity at a hill near you!!

Shit Show Round. 2

So for the 2nd weekend in a row, the "Mafia" rolled to to Milwaukee for their weekly shit show. Once again we stayed at Sam and Lisa's place, and party pretty hard. Friday night consisted of alot of random flashing and stomach white boards, which stayed on our bodies well into sunday, here is a few examples:

Saturday night was a little different, because half of us went to haunted houses and the other half went party hopping. By the time we all met back up at the house, we were all drunk and chilling. Ten minutes after that both Kayla and Matt found themselves the victims to throwup, which sent a vibe that the night was over. We then woke up Sunday, peeped this handrail, grabbed some burger king, and hit the road.

Random awards are as such:
"King/Queen of Nudity": Everyone/Nick Klaas-Its close..
"Single and Ready to Mingle": Caleb w/ Druggie Bird
"That Guy/Girl Award": Everyone-We all got hammered this weekend

Also, another thanks to Sam and Lisa for letting us crash their apartment for the second weekend in a row, we all appreciate.

Ride Rail Jam Summary

So this past weekend the better part of the "Mafia" showed up to support the "86th Annual" Ride Shop Rail Jam in New Berlin, WI. There was an array of styles and skill levels present, all of which were about throwing down and having fun. The course consisted of a square downrail, and almost directly after was a corrugated tube jam with another corrugated tube on the perimeter. Due to what some would "excessive" drinking and lack of funds, most of us were supporting the rest of the homies on the sidelines. We brought some Dr. Feel Good along in a water bottle, danced, and pronounced our love, both on and off the mic, to Mr. Nate Lavik. Despite distractions, and a long line, Nate Lavik rode real well, stomping hard way 180s to 180 out, front board tap 180s, and nollie back tails. He ended up making finals, and continued to throw down and would wind up taking third, with Kyle Martola taking first. I would have to say the results were biased though, because the names of the three kids who the actual judges thought should place were given to a local little kid to decide who placed where, and being a local, put Nate last cause he wasnt from town. It was a bummer, but we all had fun regardless, and celebrated by eating culvers, wondering around milwaukee, and consuming mass amounts of alcohol that evening.

Ride Rail Jam in New Berlin this Weekend...

So this weekend theres a snowboard railjam/competition in New Berlin (minutes outside Milwaukee. Its this Saturday, October 24th, at 14666 W. National Ave from 10am-5pm. I encourage everyone to come on out and ride, if you dont ride, support someone who does, if you dont know anyone, just come to rock out, if thats still not your shit, then i dont know why you would be reading this. The majority of the Mad Town Mafia will be in attendance to either ride or cheer the other homies on, so if your in the area, or just wanna have a good time, come on out and kick it with some of the realest people ive personally ever meet. See ya there

Whats been up w/ MTM?

So i didnt realize id already have to be typing an "I'm sorry about lack of updates" shpeal, but there you have it, im slackin on updates. Since i last posted, alot of stuff has been going down. We have started making "Mad Town Mafia" shirts, which are mostly all unique to the maker. We hopefull will be sellin these in a variety of sizes, colorways, and prints, so if your interested make it known. We also rolled deep to Chicago this past weekend for a railjam, which i can say without bias, we pretty much held down. There was alot of good dudes riding, the setup was ridable at best, but it all made it an interesting time.

So basically in a nut-shell were a crew of kids who not only love to snowboard and skateboard, but also thrive off of hip-hop and its culture. We snowboard in obnoxiously baggy clothes, travel and party in packs, destroy dance parties, "smoke trees", and "fuck hoes".Okay not really much of that last part, but we are the coolest, whitest kids you know...uhhhh
